CGPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2021-22

CGPSC Prelims Exam Pattern :

1) Preliminary Exam Pattern

  • Through the conduct of the preliminary examination, the students who appear in the main examination are selected.
  • The number of which is 15 times the number of vacancies.
  • For example, if 400 vacancies are to be filled then 15×400=6000 students will be selected to appear in the main examination.
  • The marks of the Preliminary Examination will not be counted for the final selection list.
  • Type of question paper – The question will be of multiple choice type
  • Number of Question Papers – There will be two question papers in the preliminary
  • examination – Question Paper 1, Question Paper 2, which are conducted in the morning and evening respectively on the same day.
  • Time – Each question paper will be of 2 hours
  • Number of options – Each question will have 4 new options out of which only one will be correct.
  • Negative Marking Provision – 1/3 (one third) mark will be deducted for each wrong answer
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks – It will be mandatory for the candidates of unreserved category to get minimum 33 percent marks in each question paper and minimum 23 percent marks for reserved category and disabled candidates. Candidates will be selected for the main examination on the basis of merit.
  • From CGPSC 2017 onwards, CSAT has been made qualifying (only qualifying exam) so candidates for main exam will be Selected on the basis of question paper 1 (General Knowledge) only.

2) CGPSC Preliminary Exam paper -1(GS) 

First Question Paper( GS 1 ):

  • Total Question – 100, Total Marks 200, Time 2 Hours
  • The question paper will be in two parts – Part 1, Part 2.
  • There will be 50 questions from each part
  • 2 marks will be awarded for each correct answer and 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer

Part 1 – General Studies (50 questions )

1. History of India and Freedom Movement of India.
2. Physical, social and economic geography of India.
3. Constitution and polity of India.
4. Economy of India.
5. General Science and Technology.
6. Indian Philosophy, Art, Literature and Culture.
7. Current Events and Sports.
8. Environment.

Part 2 – General Knowledge of Chhattisgarh (50 questions )

1. History of Chhattisgarh and of Chhattisgarh in freedom movement
Contribution .
2. Geography, Climate, Physical Conditions, Census, Archeology of Chhattisgarh
and tourist center.
3. Literature, Music, Dance, Art and Culture of Chhattisgarh, Janula,
Idioms, hymns and proverbs
4. Tribes, Special Traditions, Teej and Festivals of Chhattisgarh.
5. Economy, Forest and Agriculture of Chhattisgarh.
6. Administrative Structure, Local Government and Panchayati Raj of Chhattisgarh.
7. Industry, energy, water and mineral resources in Chhattisgarh.
8. Current events of Chhattisgarh.

3) CGPSC Preliminary Exam –  Paper-2 (C-SAT)

Second Question Paper ( CSAT )

  • Total Question – 100, Total Marks 200, Time 2 Hours
  • 2 marks will be awarded for each correct answer and 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer

1. Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
2. Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
3. Decision making and problem solving.
4. General Mental Ability.
5. Basic Numerical Functions (General Mathematical Skills) (Level-Class X),
Interpretation of data (charts, graphs, tables, adequacy of data
etc. (Level-Class X).
6. Knowledge of Hindi language (Level-Class X).
7. Knowledge of Chhattisgarhi language.

  • Questions related to Hindi language knowledge and Chhattisgarhi language in the same language their translation will not be available.
  • From 2017 onwards the CSAT has been made a qualifying test only.
